Abstract

Preparedness is an activity that shows a response to disaster. The factors that play a role in disaster preparedness are the community and decision makers. The community has knowledge, attitude, and behavior to measure the level of preparedness. Disaster education can be carried out through formal and informal education activities. The target output to be achieved in the implementation of this community service activity is to increase students' understanding and skills regarding the benefits and steps for understanding various types of disasters, preparedness actions that understand the surrounding hazards, understand early warning systems and evacuation routes and evacuation plans, have skills to evacuate the situation quickly and take initiatives to protect oneself, have a disaster anticipation plan, reduce the impact of hazard mitigation exercises, and understand what is done in pre-disaster, during a disaster and disaster as well as publication in national journals. Disaster education through Disaster Preparedness Student UKM MAGANA (disaster preparedness student activity unit) at Nahdlatul Ulama University Surabaya is expected to provide an understanding of disaster actions so that students are more prepared and responsive in dealing with disasters.
