Abstract

This activity aims to provide a numeracy training concept to SD/MI teachers through the use of Green MATA (Maket Matematika) media in developing new readiness in the field of education according to health protocols. The numerical concept developed through Green MATA media is a calculation technique with the application of mathematics realistically through miniature geometric shapes. Green MATA media is a miniature media made from paper and plastic waste to facilitate the visualization of design results in the form of building structures.
Through counting activities using Green MATA media, it is hoped that children will have direct experience of counting in applying mathematical concepts. The expected target of this activity is to provide assistance for students and teachers of SD / MI Surabaya to introduce mathematical concepts and virtual applications. PKM Green MATA is one of the balancing programs for the go green movement in Elementary Schools (SD) by reviewing the sensitivity to the Covid-19 pandemic. Through the Green MATA training, students are expected to foster a healthy spirit of love for the environment by being directly involved in the mathematics learning process. The motivation for making Green MATA is to test the quality of understanding mathematical problems on a small scale and to help students develop conceptual understanding of space and to inspire teachers in developing media by utilizing waste materials.
