Abstract

Worms is an infectious disease that is still a health problem for children. Worms can interfere with the absorption of nutrients which will have an impact on intelligence and productivity, thus reducing the quality of human resources. The high incidence of worms is influenced by the low behavior of clean and healthy living, poor sanitation, population density and moist soil. Problems with partners showed that 59.5% of children experienced symptoms of worms and often seen children playing around the market without regard to cleanliness. The purpose of this activity is to provide knowledge about the importance of preventing worms in children. The output target of this activity is to increase children's knowledge and ability to prevent worms. Methods for implementing this activity include: providing counseling on the prevention of worms, demonstrating proper and correct hand washing methods and screening children's nutritional status. The results showed that the average nutritional status of children was normal, but there were children who were malnourished (4.8%) and malnourished (23.8%). In addition, 51% of children experienced an increase in knowledge after being given counseling on the prevention of worms. This activity gets enthusiasm from children and parents and also gives a positive response to better maintain the hygiene of children.
